Do you have missing teeth or a loose denture? – one of the options to replace a missing tooth, groups of teeth or to stabilise a loose denture is through the use of Dental Implants.
A dental implant* is a specially designed fixture made from Commercially pure titanium or a mixture of titanium and other biologically friendly material. It is surgically placed within the upper or lower jaw and over a period ( Usually 3 months ) your bone actually grows into the surface of the implant, causing it to become fixed in the jaw. We then place a crown, or precision attachments on the implant and your gap no longer exists or your denture has an anchor which makes it incredibly stable.
Dental implants have some of the highest success rates of any dental procedure. We can quote the literature at around 95% success at a 10 year period. This, however, is in a healthy group of patients. If you have had a history of Gum disease, are a poorly controlled diabetic or a smoker we know that the success rates aren’t quite so high. They still border around the 90% 10-year mark, but your individual health circumstances will always be taken into consideration and discussed with you.
Before and After Results*
There are many ways to place dental implants. We have our own in-house 3D cone beam X-ray unit which we use to get an exact picture of the site planned for implant placement. We always pre-plan our surgery on the computer before we see you for the placement. This ensures we know exactly what size and direction of implant we will use, as well as to ensure your safety by mapping out exactly where the nerves and sinus are so there is very little chance of any complications. The surgery usually takes a little over an hour.
We have all undergone extensive postgraduate dental implant training and we know how to minimise the chances of any of these things happening. We always pre-plan the surgery using 3D technology so we know what to expect and to keep you safe. We only use implants from the top companies which have extensive long term data. All our crown and bridge work is handmade by our dental technician using only the highest quality materials. An implant is an investment, and we want to see you have many years of function without any issues which is why we only use the best.
*Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risk. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
